About Insurance Coverage for Hearing Aids
Does my health insurance cover hearing aids?
This answer is different for every provider; some cover hearing care, and some do not. For instance, Aetna and United Healthcare cover hearing aids, while Medicare does not.
Please complete the form above and our team can verify your hearing aid benefits for you.
Are there specific hearing aids that are covered by insurance?
Coverage for hearing aids typically includes new monoaural or binaural hearing aids that are non-furbished.
Different styles may be covered for different amounts – this varies by policy.
Am I limited to specific providers on my insurance, or can I be seen by my chosen audiologist?
This relies on your policy; we partner with a select few insurance providers, including BCBS, Tufts, Unicare, Harvard Pilgram, Mass Health, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Fallon Healthcare.
Otherwise, we can check your policy to see if you can work with us. If not, we can refer you to someone in your network.
If my insurance doesn’t offer hearing aid benefits, what are my options?
After your diagnostic hearing test and allowing us to verify your benefits, there are a few options for you to get hearing aids:
Paying out of pocket– we offer various levels of service and technology to address your hearing and financial needs.
Unbundled treatment plans– you only pay for what you need, nothing else.
Are there certain criteria I need to meet to be eligible for coverage?
For some policies, a referral from a physician and a detailed report from an audiologist are required for hearing aid coverage; some require patients to be of a certain age to qualify for coverage.
A hearing test is typically required for hearing aid benefits to kick in. These requirements differ for different policies; we’re happy to take a look at your policy to find out what you need.
