Brian Skeen

Hearing Instrument Specialist
Brian Skeen, Hearing Instrument Specialist at Mass Hearing Specialists

Brian is from Manchester, CT, and graduated from Manchester College. He completed his apprenticeship at Mass Audiology while working on his state certification.

Although Brian had a drive and passion for technology and computers, he also desired to help people at the same time. His brother-in-law worked for a hearing aid manufacturer and suggested that working in hearing care would be the perfect fit for Brian. Brian couldn’t agree more!

A typical day for Brian at Mass Hearing Specialists includes answering phone calls and counseling patients over the phone, helping them to take the first step toward correcting their hearing loss. He notes that 99% of the patients are very reluctant to take that first step. Brian’s other responsibilities include providing hearing tests, performing hearing aid fittings, and repairing hearing aids.

Brian finds his work satisfying in so many ways. He loves knowing he helps give back one of the most important senses a person has, often reconnecting a patient to their younger self. He takes away their insecurities and reduces their embarrassing moments. Patients find they are once again confident to go into the world and hear comfortably and accurately.

According to Brian, he helps save relationships and marriages by making it possible to reduce the constant need for others to repeat themselves and the dreaded “Huh?” and “What?” questions. He loves knowing that couples can watch TV together again or socialize in fun and noisy environments. Brian says he gives patients their “you” back and the control to live their lives to the fullest.

Outside of work, Brian relishes his free time. He and his wife, Sherry, love New England. There’s always so much to do! Some of their favorite activities include deep sea fishing off the Cape, going to car shows, and catching a ball game in Boston. Visiting historical places and museums are also much-loved pastimes.

Additionally, they build and collect movie cars and enjoy driving them around and seeing people’s reactions. When time allows, they like traveling to interesting and beautiful places around the country and visiting with friends and family.
